From 2023 to 2024 I worked as a Gameplay Designed in the Fortnite Battle Royale. Developed by Epic Games on the Unreal Engine
Between the several development teams within Fortnite, I worked in two teams, each with around ~10 gameplay designers. Besides that, our work required communication with art and vfx teams throughout the development of each mechanic
As a Gameplay designer, I was in charge of the prototyping and final implementation of the mechanics assigned to me, usually weapons or interactive elements on the map. The implementation of these mechanics included all required programming, done in blueprints, with dedicated engineers and programmers only getting involved when necessary. Within each gameplay designer team, we also worked on the ideation process of each delivery, iterating over all mechanics that were planned to be delivered
My main deliveries within Fortnite included the last season of chapter 4, which brought back the original battle royale island, and also the chapter 5 season 3, where I followed the whole ideation process of a season focused on vehicle gameplay
